If ever there was a time for the Democrats to regain the Whitehouse, this is the time. George W. Bush has done everything wrong for the Nation and right for the Democrats. George W. Bush has made a mockery of Iraq, our civil liberties, our military, our Foreign Policy, our position in the family of nations as a world leader and has polarized our nation like never before. As is said in sports, this is the Democrats election to lose. In other words all the Democrats need to do is coalesce behind Barack Obama and move as a solid unit to victory in November. The Republicans have all but caved in by handing the Republican nomination to John McCain. No disrespect to Bob Dole but this is a repeat of 1996. John McCain is a loose cannon just waiting to act irrational. John McCain is vulnerable to criticism and must have the pressure on him at every turn. McCains age will catch up with him and McCain will demonstrate his lack of a grasp of the issues as well as his lack of energy and stamina. Senator Barack Obama is smart, young, a leader others will follow and needs to be greeted with enthusiasm by all Democrats. So, Democrats who read this missive need to stop prolonging the inevitable and get behind Barack Obama. Enough energy has been wasted by Hillary Clinton and company seeking something that she knows cannot be hers. The Democrats will likely increase their majority in both houses of congress. The danger in being the majority party is acting like a majority party. This scribe is not a Democrat strategist, although I would very much enjoy being one, so get it together and go after John McCain. If victory is to be realized for Barack Obama then all Democrats must work together and allow for others who may be disaffected Republicans to join in and legislate change that will make our country better. If John McCain is in the Whitehouse next January the Democrats will have made themselves irrelevant due to their inability to get the ball over the goal line when the other team is playing with ten players instead of eleven. Democrats need to remember not to let the political pundits dictate the course of the election. What I mean by this is candidates invariably fall victim to the creators of ratings television and forget what the main mission is. Beware of FOX, CNN, MSNBC and all the rest. Those pundits are more interested in making themselves the focus rather than the publics interest the focus.
