Senator John Cornyn Of Texas Stumbling Block To Hillary Clinton Vote as Secretary of State

Republican Senator John Cornyn of Texas , in true  political fashion, has found it necessary to delay the vote on Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State. It was originally planned to have the Senate vote on the Hillary Clinton nomination today. It now appears that the  Senate vote will be delayed by at least a day.

Why Senator Cornyn finds it necessary to enact this delay can be seen as nothing more than political chicanery. Hillary Clinton will be confirmed by nearly a unanimous Senate vote. Let us move on and get to the business of our nation.

John McCain Will Prove To Be a Valuable Barack Obama Ally

Now that Barack Obama is officially our President he will need all of the goodwill he can muster from Politicians, both Democrat and Republican. John McCain can be one of the most important allies in this endeavor. John McCain will crossover the aisle and help deliver to President Obama Legislation on issues such as Healthcare Reform and Economic Recovery Legislation.

The concern will be that some Democrats and disgruntled Republicans will join forces to either create a logjam to proposals, or worse, waste precious months and delay implementing some Economic reforms.

John McCain will be as important to Barack Obama as Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi and Charles Rangel. Maybe we will see something new in Washington D.C., Politicans working together for the common good.

Senator Hillary Clinton will soon wear the title of Secretary of State and retire her title of United States Senator from the State of New York. This scribe has frequently written in not so flattering prose relative to Hillary Clinton. However I do think she will make a formidable Secretary of State for our nation.

Condlezza Rice could have been an exceptional Secretary of State but was hampered by the lack of intellect and conscience of George W. Bush. It is my sense that President Barack Obama will allow Secretary of State Hillary Clinton the lattitude to perform well above what most might expect. I think President Barack Obama has already committed to Hillary Clinton that her span of authority will be broad as long as she stays within the parameters set forth by President Obama.

With the laundry list of issues growing daily Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will need a little luck to go along with the Presidents support.

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin Should Focus On Alaska's Problems

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has recently positioned herself in front of as many microphones as she can find. Governor Palin has expressed her disgust with how she was treated by the media during the recent Presidential campaign.

It seems to me that when a candidate jumps into the Political arena he or she is fair game. Governor Palin wanted positive press relative to her oldest child, a son, who went off to Iraq. OK she received that  positive press. Governor Palin was annoyed with how her daughter was treated; she may have a valid point. The issue here is all is not fair with the media.

Governor Palin also did not appreciate how she was profiled in her interview with Katie Couric. Well, who is to blame? Lets start with Governor Palin, John McCain, and all of those Republican smart guys.

The best thing for Governor Palin to do for the remainder of her term as Governor in Alaska is to do the business of the citizens of Alaska to the best of her ability. The rest will take care of itself.

Ohio Senator George Voinovich Will Not Run in 2010

The Republicans will have a multitude of challenges ahead of them to just maintain their current numbers in the United States Senate. Senator George Voinovich of Ohio has been an above average United States Senator and more importantly is a "moderate" Republican.

The Democrats stand a better than even money opportunity to take Voinovich's seat and add to the Democrat majority in The United States Senate.

It is important to have some balance and moderation in the Senate. While I would agree that this Senate seat will most probably move to the Democrats side of the ledger I am concerned that too many Politicians from one Political Party will "screw up the process" required to get our country back on the right foot.
